How to add a new product or product batch to existing products and track inventory balance

In this article, we will show how to add a new product or product batch from point of sales and how to set up inventory balance tracking in booksalon PRO.

Adding a new product via Point of Sale

You can create a new product directly through the point of sale from the "New product" section.

a) Click "New product".

b) Fill in the required information.

c) Remember to click on the "Track inventory" if you want to track the inventory status and history from the inventory management.

Adding a new product batch to an existing product via the point of sale

From the "Point of Sale" section, you can conveniently add a new inventory batch to an existing product from the point of sale -view.

a) Find the desired product and click on the three dots in the upper right corner of the product

b) Click on "Add to stock" and set the quantity and the reason for the increase, then click "OK". Remember to check if the purchase price is the same!

c) The updated product quantity will appear in the bottom left corner of the product in point of sales -view.

Adding a new product batch to an existing product via inventory

You can conveniently go to the inventory view from the point of sale by clicking "Inventory". In the inventory view you can also add a new product batch to existing products. from the following different sections:

a) Click on the plus (+) sign under the "In stock" section.

b) Under "Edit" click on the three dots and select "Add to stock".

If you want to go back to the point of sale view to check the product status again, you can conveniently go back by clicking on the "Point of Sale" section.

Inventory and point of sale are like friends with each other so you should take advantage of the features of the two.


Edit the purchase price of an existing batch of products

You can edit the purchase price of an existing batch of a product by opening the stock history of the product and finding the batch you want to change. The last entered purchase price will also be used for future batches. More detailed instructions can be found below.

  1. To open the stock history of a product, click on the arrow on the left side of the product.

  2. Click on the three dots to the right of the batch in question and choose "Edit batch".

  3. Add the new purchase price and click on "Edit".
